I got started with the Canberra! Obviously a kit from before the restart of Airfix, it shows meager detail in the cockpit- to be honest, nearly no detail- and urgently needs some aftermarket- or scratched stuff. What you can see in the cockpit is made from etched parts /Eduard. Therfore fit is very good! With the small number of parts in mind, this kit should build straight forward, so energy and time will be there to get some refinement here and there.

My mistake: I had to improvise a bomb-bay cover from the kits spare parts. I did not understood, that the piece providing the bomb bays interior roof would also be used as the bomb bays hatch if the bomb bay is closed. The instructions are not clear at this point, so be careful if ever building a Arifix Canberra!
It was a piece of luck, that there are fitting fuselage parts for versions not being represented in this boxing which could be adapted- you can see the outcome on the pictures.

Airfox´ B-57 needs some filler and some sanding work. The Canberra is quite a huge aircraft- which pleases me! 🙂

Hi mates! I primed for the Alclad-surface with black color, as usual, but this time I tried how "mat" black would do.
Not good- as I would find out after having sprayed "White Aluminum" on that base. It turned out to be misty, with a very reduced glimmering..... and the surfaces had got a little bit grained So I decided to sand with 2000 sanding paper; that is the condition you can see on the two last pictures.
In the next step I will use Alclads "Gloss Black Base" as a base for the metal paints.

I have heard it is some what "fragile". I use Vallejo's gloss black primer.

Great work so far Roland. 👍 Years ago I used to use Alclads Gloss Black, but it was more trouble than it is worth. Now day's I use Gunze or Tamiya gloss black, both are acrylics and I have no problemos.

I never thought of using Tamiya gloss black as a primer. I love Taymia Acrylic's.

Yeah Cliffy, Tamiya's gloss black works just fine, used that myself.

I had left the Alclad gloss black beside and did use Gunze Acrylic black as primer for White Aluminum.
What you see on the new pictures is the masking for the first spraying session applying Alclads metalic colors

Painting of the Alclad- metal colors is finished by now; I still have to wipe the surfaces with a non-electrostatic rag before applying the decals.

Thank you mates! Currently I am applying the decals; Airfix seems to have put excellent material in the box. Even the sometimes large-area decals snuggle neatly on the surfaces, quite a joy to wotk with!

All the decals have been applied, surfaces are finished. Next and final steps will be doing a decent washing, a little bit of wear and tear and getting all those antennas specific for this variant done.

That's a really nice job you've done with those decals, she's coming along real sweetly.👍

Thank you Michael! Working with the decals has been easy but, alas, there is some misalignment on some of the markings. I had to re-work them with the dry-brush.

There is always something to give you hic-cups, glad to see you got it sorted.

Great result Roland.
The NMF looks spot on.
Im really hoping that Airfix will re-release this kit anytime soon.

Thank you Michael and Sören!
The B-57 "Patricia Lynn" has been finished. It has been a massive and huge aircraft- and so is the model on the shelf! The engine covers have been part of Eduards "exterior set"; that was quite a luck, because they are delicate and well done and cover the not so delicate and detail-less turbine front.
Hope you like the pictures!

She deserves one long Wolf Whistle, I really like the look of the weathering on the nose of the wing tip tanks, well done mate.👍👍👍
