Were the AMT airplanes from this period actually reboxed Otaki? If so, I have nothing but fond memories of building Otaki when my local department store began stocking them, circa 1979.

Yes and No. AMT reboxed the Otaki P-40E. But they also released their own new tool F,K, and N versions. Later under the AmTech label, they made their own new tool P-40E. Along with a new K and a long tail F. I remember picking up and building the Otaki P-40E back in the 70s...

Thank you SJ. I was not planning on any exposed OD. I will do some dry brushed aluminum for wear areas. I just tried painting the sand color over the bare plastic and OD, and preferred the tone that the OD base gave to the sand.
