As a novice modeller I am not much good at judging the finer qualities of sprues. When I first saw this edge, I thought it was a dodgy moulding. But then I realized it is intentional: it is the overlap of the paper on the side of the cup. Really nice detail 🙂 See next 2 images.

This is the going rate for this kit on eBay right now 🙂 Can't decide if I am disappointed that one of the 50 lucky people to receive this kit (cannot be bought) is flogging it 😄

I couldn't resist it, Nathan. I used to live off these, trying to cut my habit 🙂

Be careful entering this in a show. Someone might walk off with it.

Good point - there is at least a warning on the box not to eat it 🙂 Although maybe the concern is not so much how life-like the model looks, but how much the real ingredients look like the plastic parts... That said, I still love cup noodle 🙂

Hehe when finished, side by side photo of kit and real noodles. Who can pick the difference? ????

Only just started, but early signs are it is a quality kit. Detailed mouldings and the parts feel solid and sturdy.

I'm in Thailand, so nearer to the source, maybe 🙂 I opted for DHL delivery, they are very good this end.

Pretty amazing and detailed kit. I'm still astonished that there is enough of a market for a noodle cup kit! I do admit that the complexity and quality of the moldings is drawing me to this kit.

> Donald - yes!
> Mike, the quality and detail is great, it is a really nice kit. I guess Nissin maybe put a fair amount of backing behind this, I think it is their 50th anniversary. I know it is just a cup noodle, but maybe we are underestimating it - there is a fair amount of technology and innovation behind it (I mean the whole cup noodle story, not just the kit).
> Nathan, not any more, I just had that one for lunch 👍
> Ben, enjoy the kit, it'll be a fun build for you both. The instructions are 8 pages - there is a bit of nice background info in there, I won't post spoilers (actually I did post one). It is great quality and goes together well, but it is not simplistic. There are some details to look out for, and there are a couple of stickers that are basically just 1mm dots 🙂

Didn't think I'd ever say this, Łukasz, but I am thinking about ways of weathering the shrimps and the mystery meat... 🙂

The "ingredients" come off the runners looking a bit shiny, so gave them a once-over with Tamiya clear flat (TS-80). I think it helps quite a lot (photo 36). The egg parts look quite realistic, and the mystery meat looks better, but it is still a little way from actual. Actual mystery meat contains soya, so it looks a bit more spongy and lighter in colour.
The shrimps are interesting, they get their own stickers in the kit. I thought these would be a nightmare to apply but they are not. The stickers are very thin, and can be moulded well around the shrimps. I applied a bit of hair-dryer heat as well, then Tamiya clear flat. Photo 37 shows the original shrimp off the runner (left), shrimp with sticker (middle), and shrimp with sticker and clear flat (right). I think the fully finished one on the right even looks slightly edible. However, it is certainly bigger than any shrimp found in a real cup noodle 🙂

Thanks Nathan 👍 I'm busy thinking how to achieve a dusty look - the ingredients tend to pick up the powdered flavouring.

Bob - it combines 2 favourite things: model making and eating. I've opened a lot of cup noodles for research... Win-win 🙂

Go to Akihabra in Tokyo. There's a whole industry around modelling food for restaurant windows.

I was wondering how I was gonna achieve that look on the shrimp. Dont have to worry it seems. LOL

Mine was supposed to arrive today, but I got a note from Amazon saying they cancelled my order due to it being out of stock. I ordered it months ago 🙁

Ben, I just had to approve the delay on my order. There is clearly a high demand for it.

Ben, Donald - sorry to hear that guys 🙁
I got mine from Hobby Link Japan. I just checked the site and they have stock:

I suppose the delivery costs will be higher, but HLJ is a great store, always a good source for Japanese products.

Golden Cup Noodle 1:1 kit... golden!
Unfortunately not for sale, and only available via a promotion to residents in Japan. And I think it is already over. 🙁
Edit: And I think there were only 50 made.

Pure madness, but at least the builder doesn't have to worry about realistic colours and weathering 😄
50 only? That might be better investment than the Bitcoin😉

Łukasz, not quite, but still eye-watering - how about $1,099 on eBay!! 😄
Edit: free international shipping tho

Nathan, the images of the golden noodles don't look so great tbh. So even though I really want one, I don't mind not having one. And I think my life would be over if I spent a grand on a kit 😄
Jan, Brandon, I guess it is pretty strange, but you summed it up perfectly, Brandon 👍

$29,50 and a Humbrol jar with gold paint would do the trick for me as well ?(no offending)

Tini, Alexander, the golden version is not on ebay anymore, so either someone paid a grand for it or the lucky and undeserving owner still has it. Plenty of standard kits on there though, get one while you can 😄
