Revell Grumman HU-16B, scratch built conversion built for a former Ejército del Aire Albatross crewmember.
It was as it shows a restoration of a former scratch conversion. I didn't want to strip it as it had some nice decals applied, of unknown manufacturer. However it became nonsense as during the conversion most of the decals were damaged anyway. In the end I ended painting most of the markings.
Two big issues here: rivets. The Grumman Albatross had flush rivets all over its skin save for the bottom of the hull (mod introduced sometime along the series). And the roundels are wrong, the ones applied are the later, current style, with a big inner red circle. It should have the earlier style with a smaller red circle. However that was all I had.
Items scratched for the conversion include: radar nose, aerials, one complete prop and the blades for the only hub I had, one wing float, the searchlight pod, weapon pylons, the hump for the anticollision light next to the vertical stabilizer, the fuel tanks (fwd halves came from F/A-18 droptanks and aft halves came from some A-10A's), and several handles, fittings, windscreen wipers et al.
Really happy with how it came out, and the owner was even happier.
