And there it is. A week long project designed to try my hand at full metal liveries. Didn't go so well because of a grainy pot of Vallejo Aluminium model air, which I realised after it started clogging my airbrush... could salvage things with a bit of sanding, but I have to admit this was a bit of a let down.
The 1997 Italeri 1:72 kit of the Mustang is maybe not the fanciest of all, but the end result is nice in my opinion. If you have it lying around expect a bit of filling, sanding and cursing, in particular with the two pieces representing the machine guns in the wings. But overall it's not too bad. I also used a bit of aftermarket, some Eduard photo etch and relatively old Aeromaster decals I had lying around. 26 years old, but those were a breeze to apply. Crisp and beautiful. I didn't use the Squadron canopies though in the end.
I did one fuck up with the decals that people used to modelling '39-45 USAF planes should spot relatively quickly... No, not proud of this one. Oh well.
