Early space flight is a very fascinating time in aviation. A quick fun fact - the red tower above the capsule is the Launch Escape System. In the event of an emergency (while still in Earth's atmosphere), it was designed to fire rockets to separate the capsule from the rocket body and deploy parachutes to bring the capsule back to earth.
