Scammell Pioneer Breakdown Tractor
Commenti
That is a way cool subject and build. Any livery decals planned for it?
Thanks guys. Bill, I don't really have any fitting decals in the spares box, I'll just leave it plain like it is. The kit provided only some military markings so no help there.
Jeroen, Have you had the opportunity to make your own decals? I find it a fun addition to my builds.
I have actually built a diorama. | Album by musclecarfan (1:25)

I tried printing decals once, result wasn't great, guess my printer isn't really up to the task. I have a Silhouette cutter which I use every now and then to make stencils.
That looks a real stunner Jeroen! I like the Scammell as well. Last week I visited Duxford Museum and I was amazed how big they are.
Hi Gorby, thanks, it dwarfs some of my 1:24 scale builds actually. And, I have another yellow build coming up, I wanted to brighten up my cabinet 🙂
Well, I finally managed to locate the leftover decals from my Emhar Bedford Wrecker build and despite these decals being 1:24 scale, because the Scammell is so big, they're a great match! I added some pics to the album.
It looks even better with the decals.
I'd love to build my IBG Scammell as a civilian Pickfords Haulage but decals would be a problem in 1/72. It wasn't a success when I tried printing my own decals previously.

I've always liked the peculiar shape of the cab and the general "impressiveness" of these big Scammells. I like to civilianize my trucks and this time my eye fell on a restored version in black and yellow.
I like the build, these IBG kits are very good value for money. I've built several of their small scale trucks, which are always nice, and this build was my first of their 1/35 scale offerings. I have this same kit in 1/72 so that will be fun to build at some point.
I did no detailing, though there's certainly room for it. I just wanted a good looking Scammell in my cabinet.
Paints are Tamiya's X-8 Lemon Yellow and Semi Gloss Black for the chassis. Rubber Black for the tyres, Medium Grey for the interior. Some Vallejo paints here and there.
