High Flier
Unpainted PE from Eduard, so I had to do some hand painting for the instrument panel.
Cockpit is finished, but I still have to paint and mount the PE harness.
Wheels and landing gear also finished with a bit of Eduard PE.
The seat belts are painted. I used Tamiya's buff, flat brown and chrome silver colors for this.
Harness glued to the pilot's seat with super glue.
The engine is finished. I added a little extra detail to make it look a bit more interesting.
This is the side that will have an open panel in the fuselage to show the engine.
Cockpit and engine mounted in 1st fuselage half.
Fuselage and wings married together.
Black basing and some marbling as a pre shade for the camo scheme.
Everything is painted and ready for decals.
Decals are on. The decals in this kit were really nice and sank in to the panel lines nicely with the help of some micro set/sol.
It is finished! 🙂
All the open panels can be put back on again to close all the compartments.
I will have to do some extra spraying to rid the engine cowl of the shadow effects after spraying the exhaust stains on the fuselage.
I mixed the PRU blue from 3x Tamiya XF-18 to 2x Tamiya XF-2. I'm not sure about the color match, but I found this blend on a forum discussing the PRU blue.

I've started the build of ICM's 1:48 scale Spit VII. I really like the detail level of the kit and I plan on having the top engine cover and one of the side covers removable to display the engine. 🙂

You are very welcome, mate!
Another little update. I have painted and mounted the seat belts for the cockpit.

Thank you Rui! 🙂
Another update, I have finished the engine and mounted it and the cockpit in the fuselage. Next will be some filling and sanding before starting to paint the camo.

Yet another update. I have painted the camo scheme and put on the decals. I'm closing in on the finish line for this build. 🙂

Looking really good. I need to get one of the ICM Spitfires, they look like they build up really well.

Thanks John and Micky! 🙂
The ICM kits are really nicely detaild and relatively cheap for what you get. I really like them! 🙂
It is finished and ready to go flying high in the sky. Time to finish up the Dornier that has been sitting on the shelf for a while..

Really nice results 👍 How did you find the fit of the engine? It looks great with the side panels off.

Thank you Bruce! 🙂
I did alot of dry fitting before gluing the fuselage halves together. After that, everything around the engine fit really well. The only thing I had to modify was the inside of the top engine cowl that I sanded down to get it to fit around the top of the engine.

Thank you Neuling and Never a Pro! 🙂
I'm trying my best, but it is always hard to give the attention to detail when the build is closing in on the finish line. I'm still too eager to rush it.

Album info
I'm building the 1:48-scale Spitfire Mk.VII High Flier kit from ICM with a bit of extra PE from Eduard.
