Su-27 Flanker B Build
Resin cockpit, lots of small details.
My first try with PE parts.
Resin parts compared to the kit|s parts.
Built and painted the cockpit from resin and PE parts.

PE part with black back foil and small printings on it. Impressive details but not very clear where to position this part. Well, nobody will ever sit in there and complain about ergonomics, I guess.
Lots of sanding was necessary to be able to fit the lower and upper parts of the fuselage. This was because of the resin cockpit bay was in the way of the forward gear bay. That may be the reason why there is a disclaimer in the resin part manual that says "thinning of the plastic parts required"...
I quite like this primer... I think I need to do a matt black camo on some plane someday...
Not visible are scratches in the wing (left side on the photo) and some steps around the airbrake and the nose cone.

This is after sanding around the airbrake and the nosecone and some minor spots of the fuselage and the scraches on the left wing. Reprimed and I think I like it so far.
Have to deal with the sink holes at the rear wings and maybe resand the upper part in front of the cockpit again.

Filling and sanding and refilling and sanding...
..sanding...
.... still sanding...
end of sanding. On to repriming and checking.
First time marbelling, first time using the airbrush with low pressure without making too much of a mess. Quite satisfied with my first try. Vallejo insignia white over Vallejo black mecha primer.
Vallejo metal chrome and jet exhaust as a basis, then mixed with blue wash from citadel and gold metal color from Vallejo to recreate the exhaust. Also expermimenting with low pressure airbrushing and mixing ratios.
Painted and started with the decals.
Some decals are wrongly numbered in the manual or on the decal sheet. Guesswork needed 🙁
I was not sure if I wanted to do panel lining, but then decided to do it with acustom mixed light greyish tone, to not get it too strong.
I am pretty happy with the panel lines, visible but not too strong and an overall clean look.

Saubere Arbeit bisher!

Numbers on some decals do not match with the instructions. Some others are not even present on the decal sheet, like the 91A. Did my best to guess and adapt. 🙂
So far I like the kit and the colors. Used the Vallejo colors from the Su-27 color kit, 71.334 / 71.335 / 71.337.

Thanks guys! Finished the decals, attached the missing parts like the landing gear, landing gear doors, fins, etc.
I thought about highlighting the panel lines without loosing the clean look I am going for, so black panel lines seemed too dark. I tried a custom mix of AK black and whit panel liner thinned with white spirit. I am pretty pleased with the results, although it does look a bit different on the pictures. Need to think about how to make better pictures 😉

Very nice, I like the camo and engine metal effects, you've really made a serious progress 👍

Looks great mate, surely a succesful model with all the little parts added at the end!
Btw, I underestimated myself how large this aicraft is even in 1:72.

Finished the build and I am quite happy with it. The Flanker is huge, even compared to the F-15E. I definitely underestimated the paintjob and did many touchups.

Ist Dir richtig gut gelungen!! Gerade die Triebwerkssektion sieht stark aus mit den unterschiedlichen Farbnuancen!!

What a fantastic flanker. Aires details are a pain to insert, but the details are amazing. You certainly made a fantastic cockpit out if it

Thank you!
The MiG ist the ICM Ghost of Kiev kit, with added AGM-88 HARM Missiles from a Revell Tornado kit and without the ghost decals. I did not like the kit or the build, to be honest. The details are, let's say inconsistent and I did not do a good job with the decals (positioning, damage, ..). I added the picture tp compare the size of these jets in the same scale.
