Chrysler 300 Hemi C Tribute Build

I started with the 5.7 L Hemi engine. There is a decent amount of detail, some issues with hoses on the top. More on that later.

The oil pan and transmission pan are one chrome plated piece. I'm going to paint that a titanium silver.

The seat backs have complex curve that almost fits the seats. Using some MR. Cement spB allows you to see that curve.

The chrome parts suffer from typical issues. This chrome tree had a new one for me, some of the parts took on a gold tint. I'll hit those with Molotow Chrome Pens.

I wanted the body assembled prior to paint so I did not have to fiddle with glue on freshly painted parts. This kit is tight fit with the chassis but it is doable.

The rear of the chassis has to fit between these tabs FIRST, then the front levers down into place. Mind the radiator, I had to pry that just a millimeter or two.

I also like putting the body together ahead of time so I can address any gaps or part fitment issues ahead of time.

Fitting the chassis to the body before hand, you can tell the wheel tubs are little big so shaving them is needed.

I did a special mix of acrylics to match the "grey" offered in Chryslers at the time. It's all by eye but 'm very happy with it.

Installing the EGR valve where it is supposed to be makes the plastic "lid" sit crooked.

So I glued the EGR where it was supposed to sit, then cut out everything that was under the "lid".

The engine sits too high because of these transmission reinforcements so I trimmed them down. You could actually see the sway bar bend when you put the engine in the right place.

Trimming the intake's tube so it could hinge a little closer was the answer.

Since spark plug wires are normally not seen with this type of engine, I tried to make an oil dipstick with old sprue I have laying around.

I used metal rod that a bent to, a sort of shape the dip stick would be in.

The is the radiator reservoir. The fluid is orange but the reservoir itself is a milky translucent color. My idea to simulate this is Tamiya clear orange with a white wash on top.

I cleared the body and the hood. Then ran some home made panel liner on the gaps. After that was dry I masked off areas that will need a contrasting color like chrome or black window trim.

These attachments can be a double edges sword. On one hand it is a great way to hold the part. On the other, you have to carefully cut it away.

I choose NATO Black because it is a very dark grey, which matches underhood insulation.

The gloss on the hood was so smooth, it effected the NATO Black and gave it a satin shine. I had to knock that down with matte clear.

This is one of the chrome pieces that had a gold tint. I repainted it with Molotow. I did this at the beginning of the build, this gives the molotow time to harden. Almost two weeks...

I like this kit a lot. I think, it fits really good and the plastic feels good to. It makes a solid impression. Nice build! Do you have any pictures taken of the completed interior? Why did you call this a "tribute build"? Did you have this car? I guess so because of the made license plates.

It's a good story! The car belonged to my Father-in-law. He lived in Texas, my wife and I in Florida. Whenever we would visit he would let us barrow the 300c. He would say as he handed the keys over, "this car has a reputation, don't let anyone pass you!". If you have ever driven in Texas, some of the rural roads are desolate and you can really open a car up. Anyhow I took his "advise" to heart and drove like the devil. Got a speeding ticket because of my bad luck! Any how, good memories, he was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and loved this car. I built it as a tribute in his memory. Let me see what pics of the interior I have.
