Takom P.100 Ratte
While waiting for the SHADO Mobile decals to bleach in the sun, I decided to get on with something else. The Takom Ratte seemed like a quick build.
It's just about ready for priming. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be made from the usual excellent plastic I've come to expect from Takom. It's a lot softer, I think.
The seams are mostly filled, the tracks are on the wheels.
How long before those AA guns get broken off?
Bast coat done and wheel sets test fitted. The tracks barely fit up under the fenders at front & rear. The paint thickness is enough to make a difference.
That PE ladder is soooo vulnerable!
The model got knocked off a shelf a few days ago. I spent quite a while straightening the railings. Last time I put anything safely out of the way!
Finally got around to painting the camo scheme.
The camo is now done on the Mauses. Mice. Whatever.
Weathering in progress on the Mice.
Panel lining, filter & wash done.
Another coat of varnish next, then some light dust, mostly on the lower parts.
And finished!
Another tank that needs a bigger window sill.
You wouldn't think you could make the Maus look small.
I have to wonder whether this thing would have slipped its tracks every time it tried to turn .The length to width ratio looks to make it likely. Maybe thats why there were three track sets on each side?
It took some work to get the turrets on once it was painted. A fair bit of scraping and sanding was required.

Fairly quick, Robert. There are only 13 stages in the instructions. It's as much a ship as a tank!

Thankfully they have included four sprues for the pair of AA turrets. I needed a couple of spare gun barrels!

Yes, Villiers, it's about 280mm long. I have the 1/72 version to build later, too.

The link & length tracks are a nightmare on this. Due to the tiny contact points, they keep falling off. Can't persuade them to stick to the wheels either. Also had an issue while varnishing which required a repair to the camo scheme.

The green on the Ratte took all day, mostly due to the fact that I was trying to avoid damaging the ladder on the rear.
