5E-Syrian Theater Operations (2012-)

Syria became a major epicenter of military conflict in the 2010s. The rise of Islamic State (ISIS) paramilitary forces across large areas of Iraq and Syria provoked a military response from the United States, joined by various Arab and Western allies. Simultaneously, Syria’s civil war intensified, leading to Russian intervention in support of President Bashar al-Assad's regime. Iran also deployed paramilitary forces to Syria, pursuing regional Shi'ite objectives, which led to clashes with U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq as well as confrontations with Israeli forces in Syria. This collection includes U.S. and allied aircraft that were involved in significant engagements with Syrian, Russian, or Iranian forces in the region.
