WAR ON DRUGS (1991-2001)
While at Patrick AFB (1995-1999), I provided both direct and indirect support for pilots engaging in drug interdiction activities in the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

OPERATION UPHOLD DEMOCRACY (1994-95)
In 1991, a military coup in Haiti led by Lieutenant General Raoul Cedras deposed President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, who went into exile in France. A UN resolution authorized military force to restore Aristide to power. In 1994, a U.S. invasion force was assembled but, before deployment, a diplomatic resolution allowed Cedras to step down peacefully, and U.S. forces served as peacekeepers instead.

PROCLAMATION 6867 NATIONAL EMERGENCY (1996)
In 1996, Cuba shot down two Cessna 337 aircraft over international waters in the Florida Straits. This prompted President Clinton to declare a state of emergency, and interceptors were put on alert in Florida to guard against further Cuban aggression. The state of national emergency remains in effect to the present day.
