Wow Dutch. Now that idea REALLY takes me back to my days as a young-un (1969'ish), spotting airliners just outside the perimeter fence at Gatwick (Londons 'second airport') here in the UK (not much security in those days!). I think BCal (sorry, British Caledonian) inherited their entire VC10 fleet from BUA (British United Airways) when taken over - all 4 of them! Ah, happy days (and in short pants too - horrible legs!) 🙂

Smiley face indeed! In 1970 our family took a trip to Holland from the US. BOS-LHR via PanAm 747-100; LHR-AMS via BEA Trident; AMS-LHR via KLM DC-9-30; LHR-BOS via BOAC Super VC10 (or it might have been JFK and then train home, I can't remember where we landed.) Yes, grand times in short pants!

BCal BAC 1-11 - my first airliner flight - LGW-Ibiza, before it became the 'party resort island'!!! My, how it has all changed! Getting quite maudlin now. 😭

(I would insert an example here, but fear that I would certainly offend somebody, now that 'Scalemates' has such a world-wide following! Ever the diplomat...that's me!) 🙂 p.s. Emoji problem? Lukasz, You may as well go to work today, enjoy your weekend, and drink a few of your favorite beverages for a few more years. This one has been in the stash since late 1970s. I think I bought it via a small advert in the back of a model magazine straight from Airways Vac in the UK. I also purchased a NOVA Vac KC-135 kit as well. I sold it years ago when the AMT kit came along, but have since acquirted another. I have to really "retire" before I will tackle this little beauty, and order the right decals from Ray @ 26Decals. If I do get the Mach2 VC10 kit, it will probably be the low-viz K2 tanker version so I can make one of the anniversary schemes, again from 26Decals. That is the plan for now. We will see what life injects in the meantime while I am sipping my favorite beverage. 😉😎
