Its weird, I quite enjoyed playing the 'Tornado' flight sim in the mid-90s, but I never really connected with the plane or found it that attractive. I respected it as a capable platform and swing wings are cool, but that massive tail fin put me off. I started building this kit as I couldn't really ignore it as part of my British jet fighters collection. The Revell model also had some issues with flash and some distortion of the rear fuselage (which seems an isolated problem with my examplae as I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else).
As I got into it, however, I really warmed to the Tonka and decided to put in the effort to make a half-decent job of it. The end result is not perfect, but I think it does justice to the original and I'm happy to display it. In the end it is probably one of the most rewarding builds I have done, well exceeding my expectations going in.
