Wasn't happy with the "light blue" the kit called for. Bought some Testors blue metal flake, and blended some gloss white in to try and get a closer approximation of the engine color. Also took some liberties with the oil pan. Instead of keeping it blue, I mixed some flat aluminum with some flat brass. Two shots of the intake manifold show the light blue previously used, and the darker custom shade I mixed.
After most of the parts were put together, I ran a black wash over all of it to highlight the textures and give it a "oily/dirty" look. So used to doing that with acrylics, that I forgot that it wants to remove the paint I'm going over. Overall, not too bad for the first model I've touched in 25 years.

Good color choice! I think it doesn't matter wethter it is original paint or not. I never saw one original so it looks pretty good to me. Cool!

I just got back into scale models after over 20 years since the last one I made. I'm mostly interested in some good classic muscle cars but am really only seeing those with the Revell and AMT brands. Problem is, I'm not finding Revell to have the best fitting parts, and let's just say I'll be spending HOURS cleaning all the flashing off the AMT models... Are there any suggestions out there for good quality, good fitting classic american muscle?

At least from what ive seen Tamiya has made a few classic Mustangs. They're fits are always superb and flash is minimal. Price might be a little higher but trust me, its worth it
