Retirement Diorama

An old HS buddy is retiring after 20 years in the US infantry and asked me to create an infantry-centered dio including a UH-60 (which I crewed for a six-year enlistment). Hashing it out a bit, he had a particular mission in mind, when the squad's MWD took a sudden dislike to their Afghan detainee at the PZ. This required an angrier-looking dog than Master Box provided in their very nice "cordon and search" set, so I tracked down the Soviet dog in ICM's set of sappers. PE and WW decals are being divided between this and another UH-60 (57th Med. Co.), currently on hold.

I am a Cavalry Scout, should have gone with Air-Cab, but what's done is done. Anyway, really looking forward to this diorama, it looks challenging as all heck, but interesting not even the appropriate word for it. You didn't mention a time frame, were the soldiers in DCU W/BDU SAPI VESTS, or later on with the short lived pajama ACU's? Anyway, there is a lot of detail that can truly make this a one of a kind build, and I wish you the best. Thank you and your buddy for your service as well. I am only now starting to build, the last build I did was in the 80's, still don't have a kit on the bench, I don't have a bench! Still getting some tools and paints together before I start my first kit, which will be a couple of OH-6 conversions, all black SOAR "Little birds", but I screwed the pooch on this first attempt, so I have to buy two more kits before I can start. Not exactly how I hoped things would go, but a learning experience none the less.

Anyway, keep us updated, Scouts Out!
