Somehow, in a weird way, I got hold of the Fujimi decal sheet but had no particular plans for it. I was lucky to find a Hasegawa F-4EJ on Evilbay. I still have to find out if those decals actually fit. Either way, the Fujimi F-4s are really not up to the standard of the Hasegawa ones, so even if the decals don't match, I'll find a way to build that Hasegawa Spook. Let's see if Fujimi brings out that sheet in 1/48 scale then.

From the looks of the several pictures I found online, this seems to be stickered on with a very distinctive flat to semi flat sheen to it. The underside looks normally weathered but the top is immaculate. Let's try to replicate that!

Dave, as the sheet is only available in 1/72, that's my go to for this project.

After digging, I think she might be a Kai, she was with their weapons testing unit at one point so maybe a "undocumented" modification.
M-096 McDonnell (Mitsubishi) F-4EJ-Kai Phantom II (98) 87-8409 Koku Jieitai (Japanese Air Self Defence Force (JASDF))
87-8409 F-4EJ kai Hiko Kaihatsu act Additional Kai conversion?

Hmmm... When I look at the pictures I don't see the radome with the stripes, the RWR sensors on the wingtips and tail fin. So, modeling wise I'll treat her as one of the non-updated original F-4EJs. She might be equipped with the new radar and avionics but that isn't apparent from the pictures in this specific digital guise.

She is defiantly a regular F-4EJ, no wingtips and no straps on the nose.

Contrary to Hans Robben's 1/48 scale version of this plane, for me this is a quick project in between my other more detailed attempts. But..... looking into the information provided by Augie, Hans and Michael, I might add a little detail here and there. 🙂 Michael for example pointed out that this plane has strengthening plates under the stabilizers, which I will try to replicate tonight or tomorrow.
