A really nice kit in scale 1:72
After a break of about 40 years I started again with scale modeling. The first model have been the Tamiya and Eduard Bell X–1. But it was a jump at the deep end. First use of an airbrush, new techniques, new possibilities (to me). So the build of the Eduard Bell X–1 lasted over a year …
Now I decided to do build a couple of 1/72 models for practice.
My first choice did fall on the fine Me262A–1A model. For the small scale the details are very good. This goes also for the fitting (except for the pods to the wings).
I messed up a couple of things. First, I did not pay attention to the cockpit to push it completely in into the fuselage. Thus, there is a small gap left at the back section of the wings connection to the fuselage. ?
Next, I should have done more filing on the pods upper side for a better fitting to the wings. So I had the opportunity to practice the usage of putty …
And, the worst, when finally spraying the matt finish on the model, I put it down on the pods and some panel liner (I guess) found its way to the them. ?
Also, I ‚tried‘ to add some chipping marks, but should have done it more patiently and with much finer grade. ?
But for practicing it was great! I learned a lot, especially about airbrushing.
