I have prepared all the parts,pretty nice fit I can say,simple engineering with no problems so far!

Alexandros MarinosThis week I completed the cockpit,aftermarket belts were added and the final result after painting-washing was pretty good.
Engine and landing gear system were also done and so I managed to close the airframe.Was a bit tricky and needs dry fits in order to align the two halves and avoid leaving gaps.
Next step, sanding the wet putty and adding the engine compartement with the cowling.

Alexandros MarinosEngine,cowling and main wings were added this week.
I have also masked the interior green areas to the wings and made some rescribing to panel lines which were lost due to sanding.

Alexandros Marinos- The kit was primed with badger ultimate primer grey
and then made some preshading to the panel lines
-For the upper surfaces I used RC 256 (Blue gray) from AK and for the undercarriage H315 from Gunze (FS16440)
-For the end I sprayed the upper surfaces with lighter basic color in order to make some fading to the panel lines.

-Wash with Abteilung oils and weathering with AK pencils
-Radio antenna was added using Uschi van der Rosten super fine rigging
-For the end, final finish using satin varnish

Roland SachsenhoferHere are first pictures of these lovely kit. Again, Airfix has to be praised for parts fit, sound general layout and crispness of detail.
To make things not all too cheap I got a cockpit set and a new canopy from Pavla; you can see the Resin being fixed to the plastic fuselage halves. The Resin-seats got further harnesses made of painted Tamiya masking tape.

Roland SachsenhoferThank you Michael! The "Gnat" is quite a small and neat aircraft, no wonder that´s its 1:72 representation seems to be a fast build. There is not much more to be assembled; just some cleaning up of the few glue seams- and then it´s time for Alclad.

Some little progress here. Gunzes Gloss Black paved the way for Alclad White Aluminum; next step will be masking the Alu to get the glossy Red on the surfaces.

Roland SachsenhoferSome steps further... Decals have been applied on a coat of Gunze Clear Gloss Acrylic, next the surfaces will be sealed by a second layer of the same.
Some corrections with dry brush have to be made, but the Gnat is undeniably nearing completion... 🙂

That project is finished, the new picture show you the final result: all in all a marvelous, precious and trouble free kit, well worth being build!

Bart GoesaertModel seems nice. do you also have pics from the underside? I've thought I saw some silvering or is it he work of the light at the XP-decals in the orange parts. I do have the same on my Blohm and Voss, it seems like silvering, but is a strange effect with the light, and I wanted to know wether it will be fixed by adding some clear varnish over them...

Bart, I have added photos from the Gnat´s underside. You have been right: the first layer of Gunze gloss clear as a preparation for the decals was not enough to prevent a kind of silvering, but the following layers did seal the decals and stop that effect.

bruno egralJ'ai essayé de reproduire les couleurs de la partie mécanique comme j'ai pû... Le manuel comportait certaines erreurs à mon avis et impossible de trouver une photo du vrai moteur de la K3 Le Mans 1980 sur le web. Pire : si vous cherchez une photo d'une K3, vous en trouvez beaucoup mais aucune n'a le moteur identique ! Tantôt les échappements sont or, cuivre, argent même noir sur certains modèles. J'ai fait au filing en essayant de ne pas faire trop 'patchwork'

bruno egralLa déco est un régal à poser : les décals roses sont d'une excellente qualité et réagissent très bien au micro sol/set. J'ai ensuite fait un test en appliquant plusieurs couches de vernis mat. Le résultat me plaît beaucoup.

Phil Ma background, for the motion I used a photo of a racetrack that I modified quickly using motion blur on photoshop. I put my models on it...then I use motion blur for parts of the car and radial blur for the wheels with a bit of gaussian blur to mix them well....its fairly simple.
