Liking the subtle shading of the painting. How is the underside of the shuttle? How did you address the tiles? The orange tank looks very convincing 🙂

Now, this might need some explaining…. As you can see from the rear cargo thing (at the back of the photo) there is a sp...

Another Gorby-licious small-scale "weird" (we wouldn't want you any other way) creation... Definitely in! 👍

Welcome to the show Alex and thanks very much. 🙂
The buildy bit is nearly complete so, as usual I'm playing catch-up with the report. Hopefully another update tomorrow. 🙂

Front row seat, on the bleachers, please Gorby. I wouldn't want to crane my neck to see!

Another build in the series "What's gorby up to now?" Be honest, though. The only reason you didn't have orange flares was that you couldn't get over the fence at the local airfield to steal a couple of windsocks!

Scale models can be converted? So like a F111 model could be fitted with a nuke even though the original model didnt have one?

Definitely Kesa, there is a whole range of aftermarket conversions you can buy or if you are feeling adventurous, some conversions are reasonably easy to scratch build yourself. I have a couple of drawers full of plastic sheet of various thickness and plastic and metal rods, tubes, strips etc. I once saw a fantastic large scale scratch build of a B17 build that used the plastic from yogurt pots as the skin.

Excellent!
I found a link to the B17 I mentioned. It shows what is possible:

Thanks David, that might have been the reason. 👍
Thanks Spanjaard. That B17 is one of the best scratch-builds I've ever seen - well beyond my ability. I think he sold it to a museum in the US.

Got 40-ish euros, decided to cut my losses and just buy a few things. Heres the list: hobimaailm.ee/et/a/tamiya-cement-liim-40ml claypitrc.eu/en/a/st..sher-cold-dirty-grey claypitrc.eu/en/a/trumpeter-challenger-ii-1-35 . Gonna try weathering for the first time with the support of my mates gorby and martin oostrom. I know we're just strangers on the internet who have exchanged a few words but you've really made me feel like i can accomplish any model building dream i want. Thanks.

I'm not the best person to advise on weathering as I don't really know what I'm doing and don't really enjoy that stage - if I ever achieve a decent result it's always by accident. 😄
Danumurthi Manendra, a Scalemates member recently posted something that might help:

And a lot of modellers think very highly of Uncle Night Shift:

Having said that, don't feel you have to produce award winning models. As long as you are enjoying yourself and you are happy with your finished model, that's all that matters.
Have fun with you purchases. 🙂

A very long time ago I built a Trumpeter Challenger probably related to this kit, it looked like this when finished: [img1]
I wish you good luck. It's better to seal the decals and not have them peeling off like the one on my dozer blade when you start weathering.

The trouble is that many of the weathering tutorials will assume you have an aribrush. It is possible to weather well without and airbrush, maybe look on Youtube to see if there are any suitable videos which may help.
