I really should start sanding down the gloss coat/decals like you did. In your comment you've written that no polishing is necessary. Will you just apply snew gloss coat over top after cleaning it a bit more?

Ben MI gotta try the Mach 2 kit in my stash. I've been building lots of 50s and 60s Hawk kits. Amodel has the best subjects. I can't wait to see what you do with this falcon. It's a beautiful subject.

Tony StarkTo be honest with you Ben I haven't ever built a Mach2 kit.
I'm going off what my best mate said as he has 2 stalled builds he'll never complete and I haven't got the gutts to get 1 of them and try it myself.
Having said that I do have the Mach2 L-1329 Jetstar in the stash so I must be atleast slightly mad enough to try it!

MoaskeI do have a resin nose in my stash, but I don't think I'm gonna use it: there's too much butchering of a fine kit involved for too little gain....: as I can't really tell the shape difference anyway?

Mirko RömerThanks Simon, I'm working on it 😀The tires are pretty good, but needed some work to make them fit. Probably it might be easier on the Academy kit. The ones provided by Trumpeter looked quite small and thin.

FlyingbrickGreat kit, if you want practice on filling and sanding. The wings down position has terrible seams/gaps and the wing top hatches for the weapons bay have terrible fit. Many of the sprues not only attach from the side but rather spread over the seating surface which means sanding then filling.

Thinking about a custom paint job on the second spitfire with reference to the album power slave of which Aces High is from. Have some home print decal sheets that I have been meaning to use for years so might try testing them out. Revell have been kind enough to send a second Eddie Sprue so will have him seated in both planes when completed.

An easy self made conversion for an interesting recovery vehicle. I will add drawbars, a rack with a timber and the wooden hatch above the turret opening.

Indeed the Fat Frog tracks are really nice, but a lil bit tricky to remove all the printing supports mainly on the inner side of the tracks.

Did you use a template for the rubber? It looks so evenly painted. Mine is most times a mess 🙁

I'd like to present mostly dry mud what stuck to the tracks and wheels, so I kept the rubber cleaner than the rest. So far following some reference photos I used to follow.
About the paintwork, I did not used a template but painted the rubber free hand along the edges of the wheels.
