Mr DThanks, Appreciate the interest, lm reality new to the hobby about 14 months, finding my way with techniques.
Weathering n panel lines need more learning.
The IAR-80 was decent price from HB and liked the paint scheme...bit different

Nice to have the interest, HB instructions bit weak!
They said to paint interior charcoal black like on the FW-190.
But l checked n the Romanian lAR interior was grey/blue.
Engine building next 6 parts deal.

A small amount of the wing is seen through bottom of cockpit, the HB instructions didn't mention painting it first!!
But the fit of the model be ok so far.

Kyle DeHartSo many decals. Don't be alarmed by the missing hit of green on the air box. I stuck my big fat thumb on that and ripped it off. I do have a spare sheet of decals so I'll get that repaired.

Thank you Marcel. I have to say this is really an excellent kit. Not fiddly at all, even the rear wing element gave me no issues. And it's a lovely car. As for the driver I believe I will go with Zanardi. I was never a fan of him as a driver but after his horrific accident and what he's done since has been most impressive.

MarcelI like your choice. Alex wasn't great in F1 for some reason, though quite succesful in other series. But he has had some major accidents to recover from. Not just his racing accident, which he has handled remarkably well, but also a very severe cycling accident in 2020 and a fire at his house in 2022 which also left him hospitalized. I've read that he can communicate, but I'm afraid he's not made a full recovery at all from his cycling accident. Still a very tough and inspirational man.

Kyle DeHartYes indeed. My thoughts exactly Marcel. He was a remarkably talented driver despite the issues in F1. He came back with a vengeance following his horrific racing accident. And then the cycling accident and I had heard about the fire. He has gone through a lot and has at least attempted to come back and remain positive each time. So I felt it would be cool to have this model of his.

Just to clarify, I will not build the new edition in 1:72 scale, but the 1:48 kit, which I have had in my stash for some time.

I'm struggling to find a good white paint that doesn't need a stupid amount of coats to look white... Any recommendations from anyone be appreciated.

CaptGPFI agree with Jakob, Tamiya LP white is much easier for me to use. Another trick is to black base the part first, and then lightly coat on the white. For some odd reason, it's easier for me to avoid over-spraying white on that.

ClementMr Surfacer 1500 White is also a good option if you need a white "paint" with high coverage.
You can polish it afterwards or layer a coat of regular white paint if need be.
Being 1500, it's pretty smooth anyway.

There is no coat over any color. The silver color on wings (LP-11) is polished, Alclads are untouched. I hope no varnish is needed. But i will see after decals....

Jakub FialaThank you, Patrick. Luckily, no problem occurred with the setting solutions. But the decals are not fully set in panel lines yet. Photos are taken immediately after applying the decals. It is not visible on pictures, but there is still a lot of work to do.
