Words can't begin to describe how frustrating this kit is.
For a modern tool, the quality just simply isn't there. What's more is the way the sprues are designed. Most of the stuff is somewhat organized, but there are just so many sprues, with some steps using parts from 5 different sprues plus photo etch. That alone wouldn't be so bad if half of the pieces wouldn't have some bizarre gate connections. Instead of opting to connect to the somewhat sacrificial connective part of the detail, they have gates directly on details. And not just that, for details with grooves the gate just goes over those. There is no way of making the details look any good without manually re-scribing them. And this is the case for a good third of the parts. They have gates connecting to the smallest of handles - ON THE HANDLE PART. And there doesn't seem to be any spares either, which would be a nice move if you set up the pieces to pretty much 50:50 self destruct on cutting.
The kit has amazing interior detail that will not be relevant for at least 90% of people, it just seems to be there for marketing and for rising the price, because 80% of the kit is interior. And the interior isn't even that well done, there are gate marks on tons of flat surfaces including areas that are almost impossible to fill if you choose to do so. There doesn't seem to be an exterior only variant available.
If you simply want to have an MT-LB model, I wouldn't suggest this kit unless you want to frustrate yourself, but sadly there doesn't seem to be a better choice available. And when you do opt for this, I suggest your go through the instructions and then decide on if you really need to build every single interior detail or not, because it's really not fun with the poor part quality, uneven fit and somewhat confusing instructions. Best case you could have a bare engine as set dressing somewhere down the line when you feel like dealing with this mess again. Worst case you can throw together the MT-LB shell with minimal pain and toss the rest in the garbage where it belongs.

That seems to be the model manufacturer trend; more and more parts to make the modelers happy. More (and tiny) parts make modelers happy. 😄 My vote is for you to persevere and finish it 😉. When you write "gate marks" do you mean ejector pin marks?

Tom, Thank you. I guess it shows that if you put in enough effort and attention to detail, it just might turn out ok.

Dust yeah, well, It will be inside my display case. I just need to get better at keeping the door closed when sanding.

Bob, It has been disturbing me too. That is why I am psyching my self up for a batch of Ford builds. Your Mustang hood is on the left wall and the Ford logo is in the center if you hadn't noticed.

First On Race Day Guess that does make sense, Fords don't spend nearly the time in a repair shop a much as Mopar and GM products ! LOL ! But on a serious note, this is down right awesome Bill !

I'm gonna keep coming back to this. There's so much detail, it's too much to take in, at once! Many congratulations Bill, this is definitely something to be proud of!

I decided to upgrade my diorama with some LED lighting to improve my pictures of future builds.
I made a quickie mock up to see how they would work. While bright enough, I learned that I need to have some of them near the front edge to make the foreground light the viewer's side of any vehicles inside.

Thanks guys. The test only used 16 of 20 of the fixtures. I ordered some 6-32 mounting hardware last night and cut my lid this morning. I think I will need a bit of angle aluminum to stiffen the front edge and provide positive locating of the sides. Meanwhile, back to finishing up my Mustangs.

My hardware came so I got right to installing the LEDs onto the "ceiling". I soldered everything to keep from having issues. The lights are somewhat a "cool white" as opposed to a warm white. Live viewing it looks pretty good. For photos I think I still need some foreground lights. My super shiny floor may force me to add some sort of light diffuser like parchment paper.

Absolutely Stunning Bill! I was thinking about buying one of those old racing trailers - I see you probably used the parts but as a trailer what do you think?

I have two of the racing trailers. One is the Ernie Irvan one and one is the Bill Elliot one. Yes I did steal some of the interior parts for my diorama. My plan (way down the road) is to build one with all the goodies and one closed up. I want to set them up as two nostalgic front engine dragster haulers.
Racing Team Transporter (AMT/ERTL 6802, 1:25)
Stock Car Transporter (AMT/ERTL 6019, 1:25)
Peterbilt 377 A/E (Italeri 740, 1:24)
Ford AeroMax 120 (Revell 7247, 1:24)
Two Much (AMT/ERTL 21489P, 1:25)
Ramchargers AA Fuel Dragster (MPC 30108, 1:25)
