What I’ll be using for this project
Wheel wells way too shallow
Right well opened up
Left well opened up
Seat has “block” for pilot rump
Block removed and lightening holes added
Seat bottom replaced and lower back support added
seat glued to cockpit floor
wheel well ceilings added
Intrior areas ready for paintin
base coat of Tamiya Lacquer Flat Aluminum on fuselage areas, plus Tamiya Lacquer Light Gun Metal on engine
Gunze Aqueous Aotake on fuselage interior areas
Airwaves PE Seat Belt added
Tamiya Cockpit Green painted onto cockpit area, engine crankcase painted in Vallejo Game Color Cool Gray, and machine guns for adding from spares bin painted Tamiya Lacquer Flat Black
Base colors on in cockpit, cowl guns from spares and scratch made mount onto forward portion of IP
Cowl guns weathere , Yahu IP items added, + final wash & dry brushing
Better overhead view
Yahu IP and cowl guns
Seat & cowl guns
Fuselage closed up and seam sanded smooth
Close up into cockpit
Wings glued onto fuselage
underside gap & step needing to be dealt with...
Horizontal stabilizers and engine added after rescribing lost detail
Test fit of cowling and propeller… looking like a Hayabusa now!
base coat of Tamiya Gloss Aluminum lacquer airbrushed on
Next airbrushing session: Tamiya IJA Gray onto flight control surfaces, Tamiya Fly Black lacquer onto anti glare & wing walk areas, and Gunze Aqueous Deep Yellow onto wing leading edges
masked off areas for touch up of overspray onto Aluminum areas
mottle camouflage added to upper and side areas airbrushed on with Gunze Aqueous IJA Green. Propellor airbrushed with Gunze Aqueous Red Brown
undersides gloss coated
underside decals on
topside gloss coated & vacuform canopy dipped in Future
topside decals on
Fixed upper left wing Hinomaru that was not laying down properly
Homemade sludge wash applied to upper surfaces
Homemade sludge wash applied to undersurfaces
Wash cleaned up from upper surface
Wash cleaned up from lower surface
Masking off, flat coat on, just a little bit more to do...
Pretty much done... just some final touches to add

Really like this Model, different, lm building the Arii f-14 Tomcat in 1:144 at the min.

Mr D, Nathan, & Guy, thank you one and all for your kind feedback! I must say that I do have a soft spot for these Otaki/Arii kits. Not the best kits of the subjects, but with a little extra effort and TLC, the will shine, and don't cost a crazy amount.

Thanks Mr.D. ICM makes pretty nice aircraft kits in my experience. Modeling skills are required, as they are not Tamiya easy…. But ICM kits usually result in a fine looking build in the end.
