Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 Reichsverteidigung (WIP)
Starting to glue; beautiful surface detail
Cockpit tub ready and varnished with Vallejo Matt varnish
Ready to close
Dry fit of the windshield shows a terrible fit
After some sanding the windshield sits better, but still not perfect and, most of all, the base is still slightly wider than the fuselage
Closed and windshield glued in place, the top cowl was heavily sanded to fit, I ended up oversanding and using acrylic putty to fill it back over; really bad fir, Eduard!!!
White band color paint using MRP-4 over white AK primer
Undersides painted RLM76 using Gunze H417
RLM75 painted using Gunze H69
RLM74 painted using Gunze H68
Black cowl painted with MRP-005 Black
Some post shading applied with Tamiya XF-18 and varnished over with X-22
Decals are quite good in this box - still didn’t work on them with the scalpel!!!

Masks for the black walk ways
Black applied, covering the decals partially (used MRP-005)
Masks applied to paint the interior of the cross RLM74
Cross painted
Paint details finished, varnished over with Tamiya X-22 gloss varnish
All decals applied
Pin wash applied on the RLM76 with Ammo PLW Tan Grey A.MIG 1610
Landing gear legs glued in place
Some light weathering on the belly
Finished! 🙂

Welcome mates; the painting of WWII german planes gives me great pleasure; my Iwata still handles the job, but I really must buy a new one soon, because it produces much more splatter than I find suitable for this scale (not visible on the photos)

I think you're doing a fine job Ricardo! However if you're looking for a a great airbrush to do some refined mottling, I highly recommend the Harder & Steenbeck Infinity CR Plus with a 0.15mm nozzle. A beautiful quality airbrush with easy handling, that delivers great results 👍

I bought one about three years ago; however, I could never work properly with it and after one year of frustration, and despite having spent aroud 200€, I offered it to a friend and vowed to never buy H&S again.... I admit it was probably faulty, now I'll never now

Thank you Jim; yes, I had a hard time choosing the profile from the box; in the end I chose the "black" profiles for both the Fw 190 and the Bf 109

And that's a wrap, this one is finished; my first Eduard Fw 190, I think it builds better than the Bf 109; final photos here --> Focke-Wulf Fw 190A-8/R2 Reichsverteidigung | Album by RReis (1:48)
