Roy McKayBeing a huge Le Mans fan I'm loving the build up of this year's race as usual. Watching the scrutineering (pesage) on YouTube I find myself wishing we could have more 1/24 scale plastic kits of both the fabulous looking Hypercars and also the GT3s. And I really wish someone would make an Oreca 07... think about all the decal possibilities!

Roy McKayUpdated picture texts. Only real issues with these models are the misshapen nose radomes. I got over this by mounting the radomes in a slightly nose down attitude by adding a plastic sheet sleeve inside it and the fuselage, and filling the resulting gap at the top.

Roy McKayBuilding F-14A 160388 VF-41 AJ-105 using Italeri kit decals. Can anyone confirm the correct FS numbers for the scheme? It looks bluer and darker than the "normal" later TPS and the squadron markings are lighter than the base coat.

Roy McKayThis is the old tool Academy kit with some plastic surgery for rhinoplasty. The kit is reasonably OK but the nose radome is way too pointed and throws off the whole look of the model. As part of my Nimitz collection this kit was chosen for the (in my opinion) most boring scheme VF-84 wore. I've used Superscale decals but the instructions are useless and I've yet to see an actual photo of any VF-84 Tomcats painted in this scheme. Superscale also give a Bu. No for a plane that didn't exist when these decals were printed and definitely not an F-14A. I've used the instructions for a 1/48 sheet that includes 160382 as a guide and reckon this is what Superscale were intending.

Roy McKaySorry no in progress photos. Happy enough how this turned out. Well, happier than my last attempt at the Hasegawa Tomcat anyway. Its still an overly fussy build though. My initial plan was to build this and a Matchbox kit to have both 1st and last Tomcats side by side. Ah well...
