Finally out of the closet. Look at that price, NZ$6.45 in 1975 or sometime around then.

Finally finished after almost 50 years in the dark. The turrets, superstructures and top of the hull are painted with SMS Dark Sea Grey, the boot topping with SMS Chassis Black and the bottom painted SMS Have Glass Grey (yes, it should be grey, not red - refer to hmshood.org.uk/hoodt..s/tips/hoodpaint.htm). The deck is Tamiya Buff LP-75 with a grey wash. Deck areas around the superstructure and the 5.5" guns along the sides painted with Humbrol Dark Green Matt 30 to represent Semtex coating. Propellors and anchors are SMS Rich Gold.

Just a little bit of rigging added. This was tricky as there are not really any good attachment points.

For some reason my camera made all the dark green Semtex look dark grey.

Album info

Another old mid 1970's kit from my father's stash. The kit went together quite well. The only tricky part was getting the upper deck to stay glued down while trying to avoid messing up the paintwork. I painted most parts separately before assembling them as many parts were hidden underneath other parts and painting them after assembly would be a nightmare. The decks were all hand painted after spraying all of the grey parts.
