Yoda 1:4 Screamin' Vinyl Kit
1
July 24, 2024Still in the ideas phase for the base, probably going to repose Yoda a bit and cover him with gause from a first aid kit, which should make a nice fabric. For the snakes I'm thinking making a mold of them, and recast them with Milliput or probably even polymere clay to be able to pose them, make them flow with the base.2
July 24, 2024Guess there's no going back now. Yoda drew first blood. Using gauze for cloth was a wise decision3
July 24, 2024quick fill up with thermoplastic, so basically low temperature hotglue.4
July 24, 2024doesn't have to be perfect as the whole body, much like my thumb, will be covered in gauze later.5
July 24, 2024The power of one... the power of two... the pooowwwerrr of SNAAAAKEEEEEYYYYY!
So as explained earlier I made some quick silicone molds so I can cast the snakes in Milliput or clay in order to better integrate them in the base.6
July 25, 2024The difference a bit of primer makes. Used Ammo's One Shot Primer for the first time, seems really good! Also glued down some foam and started with the base.7
July 25, 2024Adding ground stuff to the base. Paint/glue/plaster mix, threw in some small stones and sand that I had left from the Mando diorama. Plus some colored sawdust and leaves.8
July 25, 2024Testfitting yoda to make sure he fits where I want him when everythings dried.9
July 25, 2024Blocking in some basic colors, using AK Tabori Zold (AK4202) as Yoda's primary color10
July 25, 2024Since the sun is out, I decided to let everything dry outside. I used "Noch Terrain Glue" to seal everything in place. While I really love that stuff, the bottle is absolute garbage and the spraying mechanism broke down on me after the first use.11
July 25, 2024so, this is where I'm at right now. Used AK Interactive 'Still Water' for the first time to create some puddles. Doesn't look too good at the moment, might have to go over it again. I think I was too impatient and the ground wasn't fully set, causing the 'water' to get cracks, at least that's what it currently looks like.12
July 31, 2024fully wrapped in clothes. Still needs some tweaking. Not happy with the way the 'still water' looks. It's worse on photo but still. Maybe I'll just gloss coat the entire ground to give it a wet look. Also experimented with a bit of cotton, stretched out over the floor to simulate mist, which looks okay from a distance but not necessarily close up.
