The design of the Neubaufahrzeug 42
コメント

Hey thank you. I'm still working on it. But most parts are printed and some even glued together. It can only be a matter of years until it is completely finished.

I started thinking about an improved Neubaufahrzeug 25 years ago. In the meantime, I've also read many books about various tanks. I'm particularly fond of the books by Walter J. Spielberger and Hilary L. Doyle from Motorbuch Verlag. They provide not only technical details and excellent drawings, but also the development history, which has always interested me.
It became clear to me that I didn't want to build a finished chassis, such as the Trumpeter Neubaufahrzeug, or even design one myself on the computer. I'm far too lazy for that. So I looked for files for 3D printing. Unfortunately, I discovered that almost everything is for resin printers, but I have an FDM printer. So I bought the files and tried printing them on the FDM printer. After a few attempts, it worked surprisingly well. And I was able to print the chassis and tracks. Then I measured them, took all the measurements from my Trumpeter model, and designed the rest of the vehicle in a CAD program. One of my guidelines was that everything should actually be technically feasible at that time.
