That looks fantastic! I have this model in my stash. The stickers for the shield look a little "toy-like" so I am very impressed that you hand painted all the shields!

thanks Gary 😉 no "dudes" on this, took enough time painting the bloody shields, don't need to be doing 64 little Vikings too 😉;)
Gordeon I thought so too , as well as the markings on them are really not correct as far as I could find out, the sail also made it look toy-like,;);)

Hand painted Gary. Live near the Viking Museum in Oslo, so took a couple of trips there and talked to some folks who work there, about the type of design they would have had, seems that patterns Vikings favoured for
battle shields seem to have been geometric in design, at least the few finds that survive seem to depict this
as the shield was made of wood not much survives,

Thanks Martin, Your model is going to be placed in my Viking ships referance folder. I've seen hollywood and others use red and white stripes on the sail. Did this ever happen? Gary

Thanks Kees. 😉
Gary...... as far as I could find out the sail was one colour only, usually made of wool and was said to be the most expensive part of the ship . 😉

Your sail might look more used if it was soaked in tea to age it. It is very nicely done though. Gary
