Very nice Russ – makes me want to do a ship for a change. On your first photo, are those weights in the centre of the keel?

Yes, those weights come in the kit, just to balance it and give it a bit of heft, I guess.

Martin - I painted everything (pretty much) on the sprue, then touched up where needed during assembly. Only bit to be careful with was the camo, getting the things like the funnels and sub assemblies painted blue or grey appropriately during construction (I missed a few, so some bits are grey that should be blue, but better that than making a real hash of it by trying to poke a paintbrush or needle in to get the walls I'd missed).
Oh, and be careful with the fitting sequence near the start, make sure you've popped the "B" turret poly cap in before you stick the amidships deck into place (ahem). Not a disaster if you don't, the turret is held securely either way and still turns just fine.
Aaaaand: make some sacrifices to the carpet monster - it ate a Aldis light that butter-fingers (well, butter-tweezers) here dropped, but luckily I had a spare in my spares box.
