Motormaster
Sprues. Bottom left is de-chromed.
Who thought this was a good idea of attaching parts?
This kit is a bit older....
Like Kerry Cox says, remove the lines
Sand away!
This cannister is a bit too close to the holder.
Much better. Needs to be sanded a bit more.
Who thought this is a good idea of connecting the sprue to the part?
Luckily no damage done.
Mind the gap.
Mind the gap. This being an older snap tite kit, dry fitting is hard/tough/impossible.
After a lot of sanding, filling and more sanding....
These tanks seem acceptable.
Right original, left drilled. Better!
Just these two stacks took nearly 45 minutes to erase the seamlines.
Some more to sand.
Done
Only light sand work needed
Fill the gap!
And sand
Drive shaft needed some attention
One of the antennae on the mirrors was broken.
Replaced them with 0.5mm rod
Only soft sanding along the edges.
This small piece neede a lot of sanding. Put it in the drill handle for extra grip.
Finished
Flash & seamlines...
Way better
Tiny stuff
The sides of the handles needed only scraping
tired of sanding red pieces, turned attention to black pieces. Same here 🙁
After sanding & smoothing
These tires will be impossible to get right without rescribing. Which I won't be doing.
Left original, right treated.
Almost forgot a red part.... This one actually is pretty clean. Just some very light sanding.
And some ugly marks here and there.
Cleaned up.
Degreased and drying. Time for priming!
First batch primed Alclad High Gloss Black. Started with the interior and noted I accidentally had loaded Alclad matt black microfiller. Luckilly I didn’t start with the cab.
Test piece. To the right Alclad 107 Chrome over Alclad’s black microfiller primer. To the left same Chrome over Alclads High Gloss black primer. Spot the difference 😉
Quite happy with the result
Lower parts of the stacks painted silver
Some details painted.
The grill
Chassis matt black
Engine & parts painted. i wanted a casted look for the ochre part. Went okayish.
Tires painted mig 'rubber and tires'
The interior of the cab. First ever attempt to do high/low lights
Choices. Which logo should I use?
Picked the top one. Cut out the shapes in the masking tape. Screwed up the lower left one. Is going to be tricky to get them right on the model.
Masked
Masked
Purplish metallic decepticon colour
The result! Quite satisfied with this. The masks for the mud flaps were too fragile.
Assembly is easy.
Cab getting there.
Stacks n stuff
Stacks mounted
Horns and lights
Blunt force trauma
