Xtrakit Spitfire 22
A surprisingly big box for a 1/72 Spitfire
Painting of internals
Nice cockpit details in this kit. This is after they've been glossed with Tamiya X22 and Mr Color Leveling Thinner ready for a wash
Build didn't take too long but there were some joins that needed attention
Primed with Ammo Mig One Shot
Trying the blu-tac method for the first time
First camo colour on
Blu-tac removed
I then put blu-tac over the blue and sprayed the green. I'm not at all happy with the result
My blu-tac method needs more practice. I don't like a lot of the edges
Plus I think the green is too dark. I need to figure out how I'm going to go about fixing this
Mixed some lighter green and resprayed after remasking
Much happier
Yellow leading edges and fuselage band are on
Decals starting to go on after a couple of coats of X22 and Mr Color Leveling Thinner
The decals are really thin so they need to be handled with caution bur it means they're settling in to the panel lines really nicely with some Microsol
Decals done and panel wash on. A couple of coats of Ammo Mig Matt Lucky Varnish too

Great Spit. I feel your pain with the blu-tack method, not as easy as it looks first time. I did exactly the same with my Wellington. But your final result is fabulous so well worth the effort. 👍
