A few steps further. What you see has been sanded- no filling necessary at this Tamiya-fitting-wonder. I will do "Schmaltzie", a ship from the 57th FG based in Corsica in 1944. The decals will be taken from Kagero SMI Library 07 "P-47 with the USAAF in the MTO, Asia and the Pacific

Two snapshots of the engine. On the hull and wings, the areas already painted yellow are next covered and then a black primer for the Alclad is applied

Decals from three different sources have been used- and "Schmaltzi" is ready for final sealing with clear gloss acrylic! Quite a mighty ship such a P-47 is, even in 1:48!

Looking great Roland. Love your metal finish - clean and crisp with subtle changes across the panels.

Today a few quick pictures of the just finished P-47 "Schmaltzi/ Mercedes" ran out. What can I say? Tamiya still beats everything.... Not without reason this kit is so well known, even famous. Everything is just right here and it is easy for the model builder to achieve an at least presentable result.
Thanks mates for your encouragement and the helpful, motivating comments!

Nice job and perfect result 👍. Especially I admire the panel shading. I will never be able to do something like this.

Thank you David! But the qualities of Alclad help a lot when shading the panel lines
