Curtiss Hawk 75 A2
Smer kit picked on eBay for next to nothing. Mid-nineties I think.
Nice details although not sure about accuracy.
A bit of resin and PE added to improve a spartan cockpit; essentially a pilot on a seat is what's in the box.
Hawk 75 A-2 no. 107 (U007) captured and sold on to Finland becoming Cu556
Prefer this side. First use of AK acrylics and loving them immediately.
Not so happy here. Using Hataka Red but struggling a bit. Not sure about the Vert, it’s a bit bright.
Underside yellow tip and black ID mark for Finnish version also AK underside. Right side Hataka.
French Decals on the port side for H75-A2; still need to self print the tail aircraft number 3 in escadrille.
Finnish decals of this side for captured version. CUw-556 white 6. Fashioned the 6 from a 0 and a 5.
Some final images here. Light not great so may do some daylight shots for a final view.
Surprised how thick the EZ wire looks in these photos. I’m using 0.3 mm which is supposedly right for 1/72 scale. Thoughts anyone?
Really happy with the home made decal no.3 here.
Despite No.107 being an A2 (2 guns per wing) the first few were essentially still A1s with just one per wing. From photos though it does look as if the Finns (or Luftwaffe) added the additonal wing gun to the sold on model.
some time ago Gordon asked for some natural light photos, and so eventually, thanks for your interest and kind words…here you go.

Going a bit off piste with this one Guy. Zumbach's brief mount Hawk 75A-2 No107 was captured and sold on to Finland becoming CU-556 so I'm doing half and half. Photos to follow.

Really interesting combination of liveries Gary, strangely it seems to work, almost as if the time is when the Finns had taken the aircraft and had only half painted it so far...🙂

Yes. I'm much more satisfied with the Finnish side as I really can't seem to crack these French Color combos. Not sure if I'll do one like this again though.

Hello @Mona I can't say definitively but it does look like all the french Hawks were Buffalo produced and shipped to France as kits to be assembled at Bourges.
