Subaru Impreza WRC 2005 Tamiya
Just starting. The usual. After painting with Tamiya TS50 Lots of tape on it.
To paint this in white.....
More tape .....to do ...
This
I tried to replicate the "textured" metal using a mesh and a darker shade of aluminium. Just for fun.It will be invisible when finished.
I trimed the recess on the wheels inside. I really don`t know what is that for.
More tape..
Twenty minutes to paint and remove the tape.
Next step assembling suspension transmision exhaust pipe brake discs etc
Aded a metal exhaust tube. Scratch.
Last time to look at the details.Everything will be covered....
Starting the interior. All major painting has been done, minor details next.
Were decals are needed.I applied some gloss varnish. Also rear seat carbon decal applied. Once again decals are of poor quality.
Fire extinguisher aded
First aid aded.... together with part of the roll cage
remember next time to put the seat belts before fixing the seat`s
All for today. Hard times are coming. Just a few more things to do before facing the body Decals. These decals are so bad. I`m gona try once again othewise one aftermarket set must be ordered.
Home cut carbon efect decals aplied. Next time will be better. If there ever be a next time....?
Starting applying the body decals. As expected this yellow decals may be the worse decals I`ve ever seen. To thick. When we manage to mold it to the surface later on when dry they are flat again. Decal solvents are useless. Even though if you try to cut them along the door lines they will crak. My advise is to buy a set of aftermarket decals.
This is my fourth Tamiya Subaru. Even with the experience aquired this is the best I got.
Bottom closed.I may put some dirt I don`t know yet.
One last image of the interior
Best headlights ever seen on a model kit. Congratulations Tamiya.
I used semigloss clear on here.
Close to the finish. Only a few things more.
Done. I`m not a photographer. I just try to assemble model kits.
The next will be better.....I hope

Yes it is. The textured aluminum its an experience. Now I know how to improve but this is the fourth Subaru I make and it's very frustrating to work and spend time in hiden details. It will be out of the box except for the seatbelts and some exterior carbon fibre items. Thanks

As you might noticed I didn`t use any kind of clear cote on this Kit. I`m trying to improve the finish to give a real look at my models and a clear cote in my opinion is not the way. I`ve seen a lot of Rally cars since the eighties (last century) and they don`t shine. Also the the gloss if there is any is not the same in the paint and in the stickers. This car was painted and polished where needed. This is a metalised color and now I think I should have used a gloss cote over the paint but at the end with the decals on I`m enjoying waxing the model. The finish is very close to what I want. I Have diferent shine and the model doesn`t look like a bubble. I´ve been watching modelers giving NINE ??? coats ( primary paint and clear) on a 1/24 scale model. They look shine ? Yes . Are they nice? Yes.Are they master pieces ? Yes , most of them but the finish........Thank you guys I`m already moving for another
