Stage III - Painting Experiments
Full experiment:
1. black basing with light mottling (right wing)
2. black basing with dark mottling (right engine cowling)
3. multi-color panel line pre-shading (left wing)
4. single color panel line pre-shading (right/left vertical stabilizer)
5. single color mottling on primer
Black base was Mr. Surfacer 1500 black, gray was Mr. Surfacer 1200.

Blue and brown panel line pre-shading; attempted streaking with brown.

Left vertical stabilizer was pre-shaded with brown
Right vertical stabilizer was pre-shaded with blue

After third coat - the photo is poor but the mottling effect was essentially lost on the upper half of the wing due to application of too much paint
After third coat - the photo is poor but the pre-shading effect was essentially lost on the upper half of the wing due to application of too much paint. Some pre-shading survived along with the streaking. Still learning when to stop!
