USS Greeneville (SSN-772)
Fairly straightforward assembly. This will be the quickest kit I’ve built in a long time.
Fully assembled, ready for a base coat to fix seams
Primer base coat down. Hull red next
Anti fouling red done. The kit specifies hull red, which I didn’t have so I just used a mixture of Tamiya flat brown and red .
Matt black done. Gold props and white on the various pokey bits
Clear coat and decals are on
Panel lining done. The light gray panel liner works nicely to emulate salt residue, which I’ll even put with
some really dilute xf-26 along the top of the anti-fouling red
Streaking along the top with dilute x-19 smoke. More streaking with xf-26
Some brown streaks to further break up the red
More brown streaking along the hull
Aaand done. The salt water staining didn’t show up as much as I thought it would, but overall I’m fairly happy with the result.
