Album info

I got this kit 2 years ago as a Christmas gift from my wife. It was assembled together rather quickly but then when I got to the primer stage I stopped, felt a little intimidated and wondered if I could do it justice it deserves. About month or so ago I picked it up again and to my surprise the painting stage went very smooth. I marbled the surface after primer and then airbrushed Vallejo Acrylic paints (olive drab and neutral gray), and highlited certain panels. I sprayed the wing roots aluminum and then went over them with very transparent olive drab to simulate paint wearing off. Additional effects were done with silver pencil. I also chipped surfaces with acrylic khaki color on olive drab on top and RLM76 on neutral gray on the bottom. After a dark wash I applied decals which went on flawlessly with Mr Mark setter and softener. After a matt coat I did some more chipping, exhaust streaks with Tamiya deck tan and subtle pigments on landing gear. Fuel tanks also have chipping and fuel spill marks. I decided to add the pilot since it looked very nicely detailed. Model 17 for 2022!
