B-25 Painting / Completed

Album image #1
You can notice ammo belt coming out from machine guns to ammo boxes. Small but nice detail by Eduards photoetched set. Interiot completed so lets cover it with clear parts!

Album image #2
While waiting to glue to dry up, I moved to completing wheels and propellers.

Album image #3
Kitchen sponge is fast and effective way to cover open places. Anyway, for sure, some touch with brush application of interior color would be necesssary due the oversprays on the edges.

Album image #4
So we’re all on its place! Tommorow I’ll finish priming the plane with white surface primer.

Album image #5
The build was really enjoyable, Im positively surprised with quality of Airifix kit. That much that I wondering about Airfix’s B-17 in 1/72 scale as my future project instead of Revell 2010’ kit.

Album image #6
After thick layer of white Tamiya surface primer, I wanted to try something new and different that “panel line freehand preshading”. I tried my new airbrush stencils from 77proppeller and sprayed some stains with german gray color. It turned out like a mistake - proceed to next picture.

Album image #7
This is the down part of plane and I had a serious problem to cover it with white tamiya color. After 5 layers the stains was too bright, i’l need to soften it with some more layers of white. This photo shows down side of plane just after airbrush stencils, next picture will be after painting white.

Album image #8
I was succesful at covering not so good looking stains on the down side.

Album image #9
Tamiya’s Olive drab looks much darker than it should as in painting guide.

I really need to buy some plane holder - building jig 😄

Album image #13
Decal placement time, hooray! Its one of my favourit modeling work. Luckily, decals packed to this Airfix kit are really good and working with them was problemless.

Album image #14
Little bit of chipping was added with diluted tamiya color and old kitchen sponge, also to propellers.

Bottom before panel line washing.

Album image #17
We’re getting to the finish line, decals covered in clear gloss varnish, then panel lines washed, propellers and wheels mounted with superglue.

Album image #18
And the big question from the beggining - if the plane will sit down thanks to 25g weight in nose - yes it works! I did it well, model has no stability problems. Next step - overall finish clear coat and unmasking windows.

Album image #19
Finished B-25. Decal of US insignia is kinda transparent and shows border between white and olive drab camo…

Very impressive kit. Thanks for the warning on the Decals being a bit too translucent. I will have to do something when I do my version of this Airfix model.
