Boulton Paul Definant (Night Fighter)
Quite aged kit....looking forward to this build.
The Cockpit - a seat. Quite rudimentary I would say. 🙂
Preparations for operation "pimp my ride"
Add some styrene sheet....
.....shake it well......
...and Voilà ! A bit more cockpit than before,...
There was an quite obvious gap on each side from the end of the upperwing panel towards the wing to body fairing. Eighter an issue within the kit or a modellers issue - not sure. In order to close it I glued some stryrene sheet instead of using putty at the end.
Styrene brought in shape....
...and wings attached. Looking better now without gap.
Cuting away some section for the lighting. Lenses scratched from transparent sprue.
Lighting installed.
Do bring some "life" into that inital empty wheel bay I added some panels & hoses, cables - please do not call dibs on accuracy - lets call it artistic liscense. 😉
Everything ready for taking it into the paint shop
masking,....
....followed by operation Petticoat - the primed Defiant.
And here the greasy Defiant - ready for decals.
The original kit part (4barrel gun) got somehow lost - so after coming that far with the model itself I needed an alternativ for completing the turret.
So again I used some styrne and spare parts to restore the machine gun....
...now we are ready to go - 4 barrel gun for the turret installed.
All decals on,...pretty hard work to get the the 40+ years old decals huddle down onto the structure,....
...some pre-shadding and paint damage already done at this state of the paint job.
Matting it down to overall flat,....
"Three green" for the wheels too,....

Moving forward with this one rather nicely. Wish I had a similar pace on other projects too.

Juergen- I like your thinking ref. "artistic license", makes a plain piece of plastic "interesting" - no rivet inspectors allowed on my builds!
