NASA RQ-4B Global Hawk

From 2010 to 2017 the NASA's Science Mission Directorate, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), and the Department of Energy operated the Northrop Grumman RQ-4 Global Hawk Block 2 in Earth observation research missions.
As a drone operator, I had a deep interest in building a model of this amazing machine. Because of the long wingspan I chose a 1:144 kit from Miniwing. This is a very simple build but as in most of their kits, Miniwing panel lines appear too thick for the scale and lack interior detail. Nevertheless, the model captures very well the shapes and dimensions of the real aircraft. The decals are key in this build, as they are not produced in this or any other scale. Sadly, although well printed the kit markings are oversimplified, too thin and difficult to manipulate. Special care should be put with the long fuselage stripes… a trade mark from NASA and very noticeable on the finished model. All in all is a fun build that can be more accurate with better decals.
