Once more unto the breach, dear friends, once more. German Sturmpionier have made a hole in enemy barb wire defenses and two of them are now cautiously exploiting it.
These figures are from “German Sturmpionier (Kursk 1943)” set I’ve build as well. However the set is really two separate teams, one par is getting ready to deactivate a buried mine and other couple that are more equipped for assaulting enemy position. Flamethrower, satchel full of hand grenades and what appears to be German equivalent of Bangalore torpedo. So I’ve decided to break it down into two separate builds. While both will be built and painted together with others for ease I consider them separate projects. Plus I’m an idiot as I’ve only realized half way through that it’s actually two pairs and not 3 +1 type of deal and by then I already started painting one figure from each pair.
Had some troubles fitting flamethrower in hands. This seems to be general problem with Dragon kits, when figure is holding something in both hands entire thing just doesn’t seem to line up no matter how well I try to align it before gluing. Beyond that pretty straightforward kit. More than usual flash, not the best of fits but nothing that some work can’t fix. Same for terrain, method I used before though recently I’ve started using clay to create more uneven terrain as it’s easier to do it this way than with paste alone. I have some terrain paste and plan on using up that before switching completely to clay.
Overall I’m quite happy with how it turned out.
