Btw, you can imo safely sand painted surfaces smooth, assuming the most bottom layer(s) are smooth. That means that, if adding primer paint first, then that first layer of paint has to be sanded smooth, in order to be able to sand other layers on top, otherwise, small tips of a bottom layered paint will show through when sanding an upper layer paint. At the end, adding a gloss coat and varnish hides any small discoloration and scratches you get from the sanding. It is important to undertand that sanding details and edges is not possible, because you easily sand away the paint that way, only large flat surfaces are good to sand this way.

I have this very kit and am planning to build it soon! How did you get such fine painting on the instrument panel? It looks amazing!

Thanks Rando. I dry-brushed dark grey and white on the instrument faces and then picked out some buttons and placards with a very fine brush. Dry-brushing highlighted some areas that I didn't want highlighted so I came back with some flat black and repainted the "rim" around the flight instruments.
Each of the dials will get a drop of clear later. Check out my album on the Revell P-51D for another panel if you're interested.

Very nice! I think you have the right idea of not attaching the seat yet since it's so flimsy…maybe I'll carefully remove mine. How did fitting that radio part work out for you? Did it go in like we discussed?

Thanks. Yeah it'll go in later along with the rollover bar. Also gives me time to scratch seatbelts.
The rear radio rack went perfectly above and behind the main rack. It fits under the horizontal "stringer" aft of the main radio deck.

Thanks for the encouragement. I have four more of these Allison birds in the stash and this is the variant I like the least….so on the upside, I'm learning a lot for the others! 😂

Thanks! Looking forward to getting some paint down. Though I think Mr. Surfacer deserves more credit for the primer finish than Mr. KyMustang!

If you order the postage digitally it is not necessary to track it. In germany digital postage orders will be tracked anyway by post service... 😄

I understand. But I am not responsible for the rates of the French post office. It is unfortunately one of the most expensive in the world. I can send you both for 7€ in Germany.

Welcome Jan and Gerrit. And yes, the old 1963 model is horrible. this "new" one from 1997 is much better.

If you take the landing gear inside, place some small parts of spruey under the doors for better fit in the boxes, especially for the front wheel

The canopy is the weakest point of the Revell 262. That, and the boxed in landing gear bay.
Mind you, some boxes hold better canopies than others, it is kind of a lottery.

Get a file and tune it to a nice fit, and use white/ Wood glue for the canopy . I have build a dozen of this kit .

Thanks for all your hints. The canopy is glued now. Still some work needed but I think it will be ok in the end. I am not a fan of buying all the aftermarket parts and accessories, so the parts OOB must be enough. No extra vac formed canopy. 😜

Great job thus far mate! I've built the same kit and the canopy fit was atrocious (could be individual error but Revell isn't famous for the fit of their models. Can't wait to see the progress!

I did the ME262 from this kit earlier this year. The P51 is next in line after my current build. Your progress is looking 👍

Impressive 👍 Did you add some sort of filter over the camo to soften the colours' borders?

Hey Lukasz, I just masked the top of the fuselage and the wings with Tamiya tape for the sharp edge. The spots and transitions on the side are simply sprayed by hand. After applying the 2 colors, I lightened them again with white and sprayed over them in places to create a little more variation
