I am always trying to keep original panel lines or make them deeper if necessary. Then I will spray glossy varnish and then I use Tamiya wash or oil paints with white spirit.

I painted similar to his way of working. Maybe it will help you!
(For camouflage patterns, Unlike him, I first drew with a model pencil and then used an airbrush.)

Yes l just get cheap ones of eBay, the do different sizes, you can pull ends n spring out for barrel look, or file ends last to have a recoil cannon look.
The gun turret nearly there now....lots of sanding n filling low spot.

Thomas. I built this kit a few months ago. I used also lead as you mentioned. I squeezd it and choped it. I placed them under the cabinfloor and I put some inside of the dashboard cover also.
