Taking a seat too. (Remember to install the rear/dorsal window (CP 8 ) before installing the wing - in the way proposed in the instructions it does not work well...)

Very well done indeed! Great to see you coped well with the transparencies, which are the weakest part of this kit in my opinion 👍

Great work under the hood! I'm very happy to see one of these built. I see, that it fits better than the AMT/ERTL brother (especially the wheels/track width) Am I surprised? No. Not really. I already noticed the difference between Revell/Monogram and AMT/ERTL with the Camaro (4th generation), and the two vehicles are – as we all know – almost identical.
Nicely built. A great paint job, as always. Since you used red, it fits perfectly into my shelf 😉

I'm here too. "It is expected to be a pure assembly with little modification" 🤔 whatever it means when you're building 😉
25 April, 10:06

oh that's really cool work you did with the aluminum rod, what did you use as a chisel?
29 April, 08:23

@Matteo - What you see in the photo is a lathe blade.
At first I used a lathe blade, but I don't know if it's because the aluminum is so soft, but it doesn't cut sharp 🙁
So, unlike in the photo, I carved with a diamond file, cut with an art knife, and polished with sandpaper.
I would like to recommend Oilstone.

MAN TGM GW-L 2

Just a preview. More detailed photos of the cabin will follow later
Project: MAN TGM GW-L 2 KatS
22 28 January, 14:06

Thanks Boozer. But I think I will build my Unimog first before building this truck. So I won't run out of kits. I always wanted to buy the recovery truck and convert it to a German one, simply changing the cab to a Mercedes Benz Actros or MAN TGM.
1 10 February, 07:55

I also got that kit recently! Looking forward to your modifications. My one will be probably just out of the box
1 11 February, 18:59

I seem to remember KFS used to offer a off-road conversion kit for MAN trucks. I'm pretty sure it at least included the bumper which might be hard to scratch build if you can't print it. Can't find the kit anymore tho
2 28 February, 11:11

I searched on the internet for this kit but I couldn't find it either. We will see how this trick turns out
28 February, 12:25

Just realized the bumper out of the box is accurate for offroad already since it's a 4x4, and the same as in your pictures. I had started working on a similar project but with the older MAN TGA kit from Revell as a basis and that required heavy modifications all around. I'm glad you're moving towards more custom projects because they are a lot of fun to get into, and watch other people get into...
1 1 March, 15:25

Nice stocking up and scratch building... Should be a very interesting build.
Actually, I never saw this concept of fire truck with a rear lift and wheeled equipment carts. Can see the benefits of this when a lot of equipment needed to be moved fast (at least until hitting the first step...).
1 6 March, 17:59

Thanks Goldman. There is another reason why these trucks make sense: You can carry different stuff which is normally loaded by special vehicles. So you don't need different vehicles just this one and the equipment carts and you are ready for nearly everything
7 March, 07:04

The headlights guard looks very good to me. Did you use plastic or metal rods? I don't think you can get any thinner with plastic
1 17 March, 05:10

Thank you Goldman! I used cables. I bended them to the right shape. The outer and inner parts are from the same cable just with and without isolation
1 17 March, 06:14

The tires looks great. Much better than those in the kit. Well worth the investment
20 March, 20:25

I have had some success printing thin parts for the kind of headlight detail you are working on. They are very fragile and I've never tried painting them but I think there's a lot of potential for this kind of application. I uploaded a picture here: FDM 3D Printer experiments | Album by Ecko
21 March, 11:25

Currently I don't have a 3D printer but I think of buying a resin printer for such purposes. It would help me a lot with scratch building. Lets see wat the future brings
1 21 March, 11:50

Just make sure that you are aware of potential hazards that come along with resin printing.
1 21 March, 20:45

Yes handling resin and post processing it takes a lot of extra work to do properly. And space too. I can't do it at home because I live in a flat with my cat and I have found a filament 3d printer can unlock many possibilities to enhance scratch builds without the hassle and hazards of resin.
21 March, 21:28

I've gotta admit, I had fun with my entry level filament printer, but I now own 3 resin printers too, and they're never turned off. Yes, they do have to be taken care of, especially with regards to the resin, but it's worth it.
At this point I'd better add, all mine are in my purpose built mancave, however I did run them in the house kitchen, for a while.
Each one has it's own personality, kinda like a cat or a car? But once you hone into it, you can create almost anything? The details are immense and your own imagination, is your limit!
I've literally just printed a 1/14 truck, with all the bells and whistles, and I'm happy with the results. It's taken me around 2 weeks, but I did use 6 bottles of High Speed Resin, which without, probably would've taken me another 3-4 weeks?
For you guys in the know, Standard resin prints at roughly 4 layers a minute. High Speed Resin is around 12 layers a minute.
My love for the printers, is because I can print models, that we can't buy?
I love scratchbuilding, but now I can flick my finger and the cab, hood and sleeper are printing, while I'm building the chassis? It's definitely been a game changer in my life, without a doubt.
You definitely need to be aware of the dangers though. Plenty of ventilation, gloves, mask and goggles. I also have mini air purifiers in each printer, and heaters.
And whatever you do, don't smoke near the 99% alcohol!
And most importantly, don't drink it!
2 25 March, 17:26

Thank you Bozzer for your information and opinion. I will see what the future brings and if it's time to by a printer, I will definitely research and inform myself about it a little more and maybe come back to you guys, because you know the terms of 3D printers definitely better than I.
And don't worry, I do not smoke or drink alcohol. So this won't be a problem 🙂

1977 Pontiac Trans Am (grey) - wip
1:25
The rear lights are painted. Barely to see: the window sealings are chrome colored. I'll try to get some rubber to it.
Project: 1977 Pontiac Trans Am (grey)
2 29 April, 06:52

I got this Trans Am of my brother. It was painted by brush and I tried to get it apart. Luckily it worked good. After stripping the paint off, The result was pretty good. Sadly some small pieces broke of so I had to repair it.
My grand child (6) was looking, what I was doing and showed interesst so I decided, to let him chose, which color the interior should have. He chose a dark red - what I was happy with.
After airbrushing that, He get a lesson in handling with the airbrush and did very well (no, I painted teh interior at the end). With some training, he could do that nexttime by himself.
When I did some detaillig, he found "steal grey" in my stash so that was another good choice for the body color. Good! I was thinking on a silver because I always wanted one Trans Am in silver. I painted the body with rattle cans including three layers of clear cote.
So far, the moste work is done. When this Trans Am is done, he will get it a s his first "full kit". He got his first experiences in modelling with two snapkits (Corvette C5 and Ford GT by Revell) so this will be his first full kit.
29 April, 07:08

Thank you very much! When this T/A is done, I will give it to my grandson as a gift. Because of that, I'll go for another one for my collection *lol*. But first I have to finish the two coupes.
Yesterday I painted the window sealings and the rest of the body details. I've chosen the chrome trim instead of black. I think the black trim could be ugly somehow. So far it is chrome but I rethink it to paint it aluminum. I will add some rubber between the trim and body to get a better effect.
Then I spent the most time to paint the rear lights transparent red.
btw: the hood fits now into it's place 😉

2 5 April, 17:42

Nice project Skyhiker 👍👍 you build alot of Soviet stuff, don't see to many of these... nice choice 😃👍
14 April, 12:40

Thanks Dave. It took me a while to get the riveting done. Hopefully after priming I won't have to do it again.
17 April, 17:41

Alternatively you could have coated the entire fuselage with putty, building it up to the required size.
28 April, 19:57

Ben, I may have actually done that if the plane were to be painted with a camo but since this will be bare metal finish I decided to avoid putty as much as possible. I'm not 100 convinced with my solution but it will do for now. If I hate it after painting I'll take it off and have a rethink.
28 April, 23:38

The quality of the kit looks almost as good as Starfix. 😄
Excellent work so far.
29 April, 07:28

The pilots look like blobs of hot glue. Maybe I should have formed the fuselage out of hot glue to match them.
29 April, 10:18

ww2aircraft.net/foru..-trials-1.32229/full
Can anyone guess what the pipes on the side of the plane are? The kit has only the front section of the pipe and interpreted it as an exhaust, but it looks like a pipe to me.
29 April, 10:43

I would say it's a streamlined exhaust system??
The plastic looks a little waxy on this kit , lve had similar stuff on my 1:144 Tomcat.
Doing a 👍👍 Job.
29 April, 15:41

It looks like the front half is not painted and has two steel brackets. The back half could be a continuation of the pipe painted or is it an indented surface with no pipe? The kit just has the front part. If it's a long pipe is it open in the back for exhaust?

Never leave home to see the world's highest-level model exhibition. The details of the model are unobstructed. It's wonderful and super cool. Thank you very much.
29 April, 14:31

Happy to bring a glimpse of this impressive exhibition to your doorstep. Great shopping opportunities there too - from garage companies to big(ger) players to vendors.
Really nice to read your appreciation.
Happy modelling.
29 April, 21:35

There's some astoundingly fantastic work in here, thanks for adding this album 👍
29 April, 21:53

Here's the way I interpret it: it is a Mig-21 exhibited in a polish aviation museum. Some parts of the plane are removed already and undergo restoration as depicted in the lower level of the dio. If I recall it right the dio won Gold in it's category.
29 April, 22:24

It's a marvelous diorama but I don't understand… is the plane about to fall into a sinkhole?

Really nice work there James.
If you don't mind, did the RAN get the Tribal Class destroyers as 'stock' versions, or were they modified for the Pacific? If so, did you scratch up the extras?
29 April, 23:46

Hi Jay,
They were modified in a few ways. The quad machine guns common to the RN types were replaced with six 20mm Oerlikon mounts (note the addition of the semi-circular gun tubs flanking the rear mast).
The radar and radio equipment on the foremast was also different. Arunta was also completed with a 285P4 radar atop her battery director.
The guns were also different. Where the British Tribals mostly had 4x 4.7in mounts, the Australian ships replaced the X mount with a 4in dual purpose mount.
It was also pointed out to me after these photos were taken that the aft smokestack was cropped down to be shorter than the forward one. I've since modified my model to reflect that change.
There are a few other minor changes across them, including some modified platforms around the bridge and midships AA deck. Truthfully, I found it quite difficult to acquire reference materials better than grainy black and white photos, so while I am certain there are some discrepencies in my build, my general 'feeling' is that they are quite minor, and it would likely take a rivet-counter or proper RAN subject expert to spot them.

Lovely stuff!
Nice choice of scheme too.
Best of luck with the hundreds of stencils, I hope the thick decals aren't too much of a pain.
1 7 April, 15:19

@Clement Thanks a lot man, i just did all the stencils! Photos are to follow 😄
@Sergej Thanks! Hahahah its not magic 900 😂 its magic goo, melted transparend sprues in tamiya extra thin cement, i sometimes use it as a filler
Thank you @Patrick!
1 9 April, 12:05

You're going to be seeing stencils in your dreams after that.... great work!
1 9 April, 15:36

That's a cool idea, Petar. I use sprue goo made from colored sprues but it tends to dry slowly. Does clear sprue goo dry quickly?
1 9 April, 17:11

Definitely a reason to be proud of, not only the decals.
Interested in the pros & cons of the Magic 900 too 😄
1 9 April, 19:33

I started using black CA instead of magic 900... adding some filler dust also makes it dry faster, one hour more than enough for full cure and much less reducing, making one application enough even for deeper gaps. For me it is a go-to 900 now.
Tested also UV glue, but it doesn't sand as well as CA.
1 9 April, 20:28

So many nice comments, and funny ones too haha. I was a bit off guys, but expect some progress soon.
Patrick, hey, I dont know what's the difference but I can tell you that clear one does need quite a bit of time to dry too. I leave if for 24h just to be sure, i do think it's sandable after few hours though.
Lukasz haha thanks man. I would say pro is it's plastic once it's try it's pretty much part of the model, won't snap or crack. Bad thing is drying yime so if you are in a hurry yiu don't want to use it. Also, sometimes needs few hands for it to fill big holes.
@Sergei I'll try it out man, thanks for lettimg me know, i hear people use it but i havent tryed it myself. I did go with supergule, its good but hard to sand sometimes.
1 21 April, 18:34

Haha thanks a lot man, thats a serious compliment, i do try my best 🙏🏻
