GlennA little update to anyone that has an interest in the UFO/UAP subject! First of all if you don't care then don't look! But if you are interested then you may like to check out the story that broke on social media the other day relating to a photo of an alleged UFO crash that was shown by no other than Ron James... Head of MUFON (Mutual UFO Network) one of the largest civil investigator groups that's been around for a very long time.
He held up a black and white photo of a UFO crash and within the first few hours a few of us model builders were jumping online to say that the figures seen in the photo where nothing but Tamiya 1/35 figures posed with a very crude diorama of a car hubcap! This blew up pretty quickly and several modellers jumped on saying the same thing!
Anyway here's a link to the follow up podcast with John Greenewald from the Black Vault. Scalemates got a bit of a plug with the photo of the kit shown watermarked from Scalemates! This may be because i also mentioned Scalemates on another page as a reference for the model kit information! So there you go Tim we managed to get Scalemates mentioned in the process of debunking the photo!

bughunterThat is a very filigree affair 😮 But are such heavy print line needed with latest technology? 🤔 I do not have a 3D printer but I have seen better parts.

Ben MI dilute perfect plastic putty and brush on parts with print lines. It dries in the "valleys" and runs off the "peaks" if you orient the part correctly. No need for a lot of sanding.

John HughesRobert, I would brush on a thin coat of Mr Surfacer and use Levelling Thinner with a cotton bud to cut it back. You don't need to apply any pressure.

Ben MI did a resin printed 1/35 K-Wagen, not quite as big as the thunderbird I think, but one of the biggest models I have built. There was a lot of putty and sanding involved.

Ludvík KružíkRobert, did you get the scale wrong? 😄 For 1/48 scale, those flying tubes are really tiny.
I wish you a steady hand and a lot of patience during the construction and I'm curious to see the result.

Alex KWell... since you built a Pou du Ciel in 1:144, the 1:72 Bensen wouldn't be a problem for you... and it would have been great along these: One-man helicopters | Album by podkon (1:72)

Starbase101@SCM Data suggestionsI don't know who or why USS Arizona (Revell 85-0302, 1:426) was set at 1:429 scale, but it says right on the box 1:426 and all the after-market products for this kit are 1:426 so I changed the scale back to 1:426 for the kit.

Michael KohlVery well done build, paint job, weathering, figure painting and diorama. I only would have expected the engine compartment to be more dirty and grimy. Everything else is just spot on.

I agree with you Michael - I could have grimed it up a bit more. Did not think it was that visible in the end... I did add wires for the spark plugs though so don't know I skipped more dirt... 😂

Dom SAVE@John, Thank you very much, I still have plenty of time to mess things up! 🙂 I looked at yours and you came out superbly, maybe it's worth putting it aside while waiting for the taste to come back? I have a bit of the same feeling at the end of assembly. The 2006 kit was not easy to line up.
