Bristol Beaufighter Mk IV.
Touch up's to come.
Rather shiny individuals. Masking tape flying harness added to represent a facsimle of the real thing when the fuselage and canopy are boxed up.
Duly muted, individuals.
All pinned up and nowhere to go.
I drilled a hole at an angle so hopefully the aircraft looks as though it is banking. I also put a wheel together from the kit drilled it out to accommodate the mount. This is to act as a support within the fuselage, I will cap it with plasti - card so the rod wont be a problem regarding the interior.
Misalignment's to be fettled.
Wing root step and ill alignement on the engine to be sanded.
In between hanging paper, prepping walls, woodwork and painting. Some intermittent modelling. Steps on the wing root to be rectified.
All areas that needed fettling done and then primed.
AK3G Azure Blue applied.
Lightened some of the the panels by mixing AK3G Azure Blue, RLM76 Version 2 and Insignia White. I then added a drop AK3G Middle Stone to do the leading edges and anything prominent that would have dirt kicked up on it.
I am getting a bit frustrated when doing close up work with an 0.2 (or for that matter an 0.3) needle, when using AK3G no matter the ratio of paint/thinner and varying air pressure I still get tip dry or spattering and paint burst. I never have this problem with Tamiya. I am thinking of trying AK's Real Colour for my next project.
AK3G Middle Stone applied today.
Camo' applied. AK3G Dark Earth.
Some smut ( the paint got under the masking) to be corrected. I will freehand the corrections, I may freehand the camo' next time because it was a bugger to mask.
I have now stopped shouting at the wall for not being plumb, because I have finished the decorating. . . . . . . . . . . . . . finally. More bench time!
Post shaded some panels etc. To the AK3G Dark Earth, Middle Stone I added some 3G RAF Sky Grey and Insignia White.
I knocked back the paint with a Flory polishing stick to add a bit more wear and tear.
Tamiya Semi Gloss applied, ready for decals, weathering and general bashing about.
Decals applied and mocked up with the props, looks like an aircraft.
exhausts done, I will blue them up later. Tail wheel silvered and awaiting the black/grey for the tyre.
Ready for wash, more weathering and albion alloys to imitate gun/cannon barrels.
Weathered and Tamiya Matt coat applied.
Demasked, Albion Alloys added to make it look like the snouts of the guns in their bays.
Just watched Jamie Haggo's Scale Model .Cafe News Update. His Arma Hobbies Malta Hurricane. I think I need to do a bit more weathering.
