1932 Chrysler
There is lots of chrome on this project. I have been very disappointed with bare metal foil the last few times I have used it, looking dull and it just won’t stick like it used to years ago.
So I thought I’d try something new, looked around at various paints and have had good results with SMS chromes and their chrome pens but it just wasn’t the thing I was hunting for.
Found Hasegowa Chrome Finish in Plaza Hobby in Japan and ordered a couple of sheets. Very different to use than BMF, a learning curve is involved and I definitely haven’t got anywhere near perfecting how to use it.
It does stretch and you can get a smooth surface with it but, if you stretch it until it is very thin you will see the surface texture underneath it. Getting rid of ripples is not easy and there is a thinning agent that can be used with it to get the stuff to conform, but it will stop the adhesive from sticking.
So it has been a three or four month haul, a few tantrums involved and maybe even a tear or two? But here she is in all her glory.
Paints are SMS Lacquers, glass is secured with Alclad Aqua Gloss, small chrome parts are SMS Chrome Cold Tone.
Hope you like her, she was worth it.

Alex G, must have been a mentor who helped out eh?
Bozzer, they were just so beautiful. Next classic will be a vey old Bugatti. Unfortunately it is an Italari kit so I may loose my mind building it!

wow Peter, you say it is not perfect, but I see no problem with all that chrome, and the paint job is, of course, flawless!!

Peter, glad you like the colours mate, took a little while to decide what I wanted then getting the mixtures right.
Spanjaard, the chrome was an uphill climb but gaining a new skill is very satisfying!

Yeah nah. Got an Italari Bugatti Town Car. I do love these 1930s straight eights though. They'd put a hardon on a jellyfish!
